School Admissions
Admissions for Woodside Primary School

We deal with all applications to attend Woodside fairly and follow the procedures outlined by the Local Authority.  We welcome children of all backgrounds and abilities. Our class sizes are limited to 30 children per class from Reception Class through to Year 6. This can be exceeded subject to an appeals process.
September start for Reception Children
Your child will be due to start school the September after their 4th birthday, although education is not compulsory until children are 5 years old.

You should receive notice either from your child’s Nursery/Playschool or the Local Authority informing you when it is time to apply for the school of your choice.  The forms can either be completed online or a paper copy can be obtained from the Education Department and must be completed by the deadline provided by the Local Authority. The application form must be completed by the persons with parental responsibility for the child starting school, stating in order of preference what school you would like your child to go to. You should receive details of which school your child has been allocated a place at via the Local Authority. Shortly afterwards we will contact you inviting you and your child into school for visits.

If you wanted your child to attend Woodside and have been allocated a place at another school you have a limited amount of time to appeal the decision with the Local Authority.  Your case will be brought before an Appeals Panel held by the Local Authority and they will inform you of the outcome.
In-year Admissions

If you would like your child to attend Woodside at any other time during their education, you are welcome to contact us to arrange a viewing of the school.
We will invite you in to have a chat with staff to discuss your child’s education and needs, as well as answer any questions you may have. Providing there is availability in the class your child is in, we will then ask you to complete an admissions form for the school and arrange a start date for your child should you wish them to attend Woodside.  Places are allocated in date order of applications.
If we are unable to offer your child a place at Woodside due to unavailability we have a waiting list in the case that a place may become available.  Places are allocated in order of completed application forms received. If you wish, you may appeal this decision with the Local Authority via the link below.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries about the admissions process.
